Does 165 Hz Actually Remove Water from Phone Speakers?
Does the 165 Hz tone really eject water from phone speakers? Acoustic engineers explain the science, test results, and limitations.
Start audio tests at low volume; stop for distortion. Tones cannot guarantee removal of water or repair internal damage. Do not charge a wet device.
Some devices may respond to a tone, but there is no guaranteed result. In physics, high-amplitude acoustic pressure waves create an air pump effect. At 165 Hz, the speaker diaphragm moves roughly 0.2mm to 0.4mm back and forth 165 times per second. This generates sufficient kinetic energy to overcome surface tension and propel water droplets out of the mesh.
If water has reached internal logic board circuits and caused an electrical short, acoustic tones cannot repair fried chips. It is strictly an external acoustic mesh and driver chamber drainage tool.
