Soapy Water in Phone Speaker: Surfactant Neutralization
Dropped phone in soapy bath water or sink dishwater? How surfactants break water resistance and how to clear soapy foam with sound.
Start audio tests at low volume; stop for distortion. Tones cannot guarantee removal of water or repair internal damage. Do not charge a wet device.
Water resistance ratings (IP68) are certified only for pure fresh water. Soaps, shampoos, and detergents are surfactants: they lower water surface tension, allowing water to penetrate hydrophobic mesh that would normally repel clean water.
To clean soapy water, hold the speaker downward, run our 180 Hz high-velocity droplet tone, and allow the foam bubbles to mist out.
